On October 19, 1987 the University of Amsterdam sent a press release, which was formally announced by the Foundation for Investment and Real Estate Studies, the SBV. The SBV was founded by the Dutch Association of Project Companies (NEPROM), the Dutch Association of Estate Agents og and real estate experts (NVM) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA), because both the real estate practice and from university a strong need existed for expertise in real estate studies to increase. The aim of the foundation was and is to promote and coordinate education and research in the field of real estate studies.
